“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
-Patsy Clairmont
Many people ask me why I chose this profession, particularly as I began this journey later in life. While there are a number of qualifying reasons, the truest one of all is this: It actually chose me. I know what it is to experience great emotional pain, debilitating grief, the weight of fear and hopelessness. AND…I also know what it is to experience deep healing and a renewed sense of hope and peace.
It takes an almost supernatural kind of courage to honestly examine the broken pieces of our lives, both past and present, within ourselves and in our relationships with others. It is even more so if you are willing to do it sitting across from a therapist who, most likely, is a perfect stranger. That is why I have the utmost respect and compassion for every client who walks through our door here at Cultivate. I am passionate in my desire to come alongside you, providing you with a safe and trusted space where mutual respect and collaboration is a high priority. It is my heart’s desire and one of the most humbling of experiences to work with individuals, couples, premarital couples, and families as they navigate some of life’s most challenging seasons.
I utilize several different modalities as seen through the lens of evidence-based theories such as attachment and systems theory which have influenced the development of one of the most thoroughly researched approaches in the field, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I also use more action-centered approaches like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) depending on the needs and goals of each individual client.
