Love is a constant process of tuning in, connecting, missing and misreading cues, disconnecting, repairing, and finding deeper connection. It is a dance of meeting and parting and finding each other again. Minute to minute and day to day.

COUPLES THERAPY

If you are a couple at any stage of your relationship, motivated to put in work on your relationship and  deepen your connection to each other, than you would benefit from couples therapy.

Sessions are either 50 mins or 80 mins in length. The goal in couples therapy is to help both partners challenging conversations   that cause distress in the relationship, and to help the couple to move into deeper spaces of connection and communication.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)  uses attachment science and is empirically proven to be beneficial for relationship distress, conflict, or disconnection. This therapy is especially effective in cultivating trust and improving communication and connection. Some of the goals of EFT couples therapy are:

-To feel closer to your partner, both emotionally and physically.

-To turn long-standing conflicts into opportunities for connection.

-To understand the underlying emotional needs that may be sabotaging your relationship.

-To heal from wounds in the relationship caused by attachment injuries in the relationship such as an affair or addiction

-To break patterns that cause you to feel alone and distant from your partner.

The Gottman Method is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship, and integrates research-based interventions and tools. Some of the goals of Gottman Couples Therapy are:

-To disarm conflicting verbal communication

-To increase intimacy, respect, and affection

-To remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy

-To create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.

Sex therapy

Sex therapy is aimed at providing a comfortable, encouraging atmosphere for couples to safely talk through their challenges at obtaining a healthy and fulfilling sex life. Anyone can benefit from sex therapy — especially people experiencing sexual challenges and dissatisfaction with their sex lives. Sometimes sex therapy will also be an element of couples therapy (EFT or Gottman therapy described above) as the couple is also working towards a deepening emotional connection and communication.
